In this collaborative stop motion film project, I spearheaded the prototyping, conceptualization, and construction of the tunnel to align with the art direction provided, ultimately leading to the pivotal hero shot of the character entering the ominous washer machine.

I conducted thorough testing, experimenting with different tunnel lengths and widths while employing wide camera lenses to create the illusion of depth through forced perspective. Once the mechanical framework of the set piece was established, I developed laser-cut files to intricately etch the design and accurately cut out the sides of the washer's interior based on the initial cardboard prototypes.

Given the forced perspective aspect of the tunnel, I sculpted three distinct sizes of teeth and utilized an open-face mold with a lid to ensure the creation of perfectly flat bottoms. The assembly of the tunnel's interior was carefully carried out, with each tooth securely glued in place. The entire structure was then coated in silver paint and weathered to enhance its aged appearance. Further distressing was applied during filming to heighten the scene's authenticity.
